Liberty is threatened when your votes don’t matter to presidential candidates. Candidates ignore ALL voters in most states under the status quo.

Great post. Sebelius likes to prattle on about taxes but have you ever challenged him to write an extra check to the Feds or Carson City? He could post the cashed check on his blog. I think it’s high time people who advocate more taxes should put their money where their mouth is.

I’m sorry, but if the WHOLE NATION voted one way and Nevada voted the other, we deserve as a state and as a people to have our vote registered and our electors awarded the way we voted. To do anything else is a theft of our vote.

Why don’t we just have people in NV NOT vote at all, and we’ll send them an email telling them how the rest of the country decided for them? Maybe we should let Wyoming decide who will go to our legislature in 2010….. would that matter to the geniuses in Carson City?

I had to rub my eyes to make sure that I was seeing both “IAP” and “serious” in the same sentence. Anyway, I will avoid discussing the wacky aspects of the IAP and instead concentrate on the difficulty a third party had in getting elected. Because of Nevada’s single member districts which are elected by plurality it is extremely difficult for a third party candidate to gain office. That does not make it impossible to be elected if you a third party. The odds however are stacked against you. Plus their is the impact it has on people’s mentality. They do not want to “waste” their vote on a third party candidate.

I just find it amazing that someone actually came up with such a strange idea. I mean, I’ve heard of proposals to have states electoral voters divided by proportional representation or have be based on congressional district. But to have are states electoral votes alloted based on how OTHER states vote is just a surreal concept.

Besides, in the next Presidential election Obama will be receiving both the national popular vote and Nevada’s electoral votes regardless.

Our friend Chuck Muth strongly objected … to the fact that we said it was secret. In fact, Muth said on his blog today, conservatives are totally open about it.

Well, at the very least, we know the conservative mind, if not necessarily the conservative style.

Muth also offered to buy the first round of beers so as to fill us in about the right-wings plotting against the government. We’re totally in! How does Gordon Biersch sound, Chuck?

If you bring your wife, we can call it a double date, and my wife can actually fellowship with an intelligent woman, which seems rare here.
